Aliens!

I had a dream last night that led me to this song, this morning... I had certainly heard it many times before but never could make out all the words... This time, while watching the video in the quiet of my home, I was finally able to understand the lyrics... As always, the 'message' resonated well beyond the surface...

Besides the strange, literal truth as it related to a particular 'alien' in my life (men are from mars!), there is actually a spiritual truth in this song, as well... As God's people, we are all aliens in this world! In Christ's own words regarding us, "They are not of the world, even as I am not of it." John 17:16 Or as Peter later cautioned, "Dear friends, I warn you as aliens and temporary residents on earth to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your souls." 1 Peter 2:11

It's a battlefield for sure, down here... but we can at least take comfort in the promise that this world truly IS beneath us...!
